Operations research is a mathematical discipline dealing with the development and application of analytical methods to improve decision-making processes and has the goal to find optimal or near-optimal solutions to such decision-making problems. Operations research is located in the intersection of applied mathematics, economics and computer science. This special issue is dedicated to the presentation of new ideas and approaches for the solution of operations research problems. High-quality papers are solicited to address theoretical or/and practical issues in the broad area of operations research. Submissions presenting new structural results, modeling approaches, innovative exact or heuristic/metaheuristic algorithms as well as new applications, are welcome. Potential topics include, but are not limited to linear and nonlinear programming, optimization problems on graphs and networks, project management, scheduling, logistics and transportation, queueing theory, and simulation.
