The applications of mathematics arise in almost every branch of science and engineering and all aspects of everyday life. The 20th century rethought the foundations of mathematics and was marked by numerous new approaches. These novel methods have sparked new application areas that have led to more developed mathematical language, new powerful mathematical tools and remarkable discoveries in other applied sciences. Towards the end of the 20th century, mathematicians would reconsider the need to bridge dividing lines in mathematics, which would create opportunities for other disciplines and increase interdisciplinary research.
The special issue on "New Trends in Mathematics and its Applications" investigates the current state of mathematics and its applications and the changes required for the discipline to be in a strong position and maximize its contribution to allied fields. It seeks to enhance the vitality of the discipline and to contribute in new ways to most areas of science and engineering. Furthermore, because of the valuable interplay between ideas and people from all parts of the mathematical sciences, this special issue would emphasize the importance of training for future generations of mathematical scientists in light of the increasingly cross-disciplinary nature of the mathematical sciences.
In this special issue, we attempt to integrate models, methods, and applications not only within the scope of traditional natural sciences, but also by broadening the scope to include engineering and social sciences. Theory and data-driven models can also be considered in collaboration, leading to the multidisciplinary and hybrid research models. This Special Issue is mainly focused on addressing some efficient computational methods for accurately handling differential and integral problems. We invite original research and review articles which discuss these topics.
