Special Issue: Applied Mathematics in Advanced Modelling and Computing for Sustainability

Mathematics is foundational in engineering, particularly in addressing complex problems that traditional exact search methods often cannot efficiently solve due to their high computational demands. Recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and optimization algorithms have empowered researchers to effectively tackle these challenges across diverse engineering domains. As global challenges intensify, the integration of advanced computing, calculative intelligence, and mathematical frameworks has become essential for promoting sustainability across multiple sectors.

 

This special issue seeks to explore the transformative potential of applied mathematics in advanced modeling and computing to address pressing sustainability issues related to the environment, society, finance, economy, healthcare, education, energy, transportation, administration, and manufacturing. We invite original research articles, case studies, and reviews that investigate how mathematical modeling and optimization, combined with advanced computational methods, can enhance sustainable practices and facilitate informed decision-making processes.

He specializes in intelligent computing and data engineering. His expertise encompasses deep learning applications in various domains, including healthcare and finance, with notable projects like Smart Edge Computing for Industry 4.0, AIoT Smart Green, Deep Patronymics and Intelligent CRM systems. Dr. Liew has published 20 scientific papers and has extensive experience in project management, proposal writing, and international collaboration. His strong industry background equips him to bridge the gap between academia and practical applications, enhancing student training with real-world insights. As a Research Lead, he excels in stakeholder engagement and multi-institute project coordination, making him well-suited to drive impactful research initiatives in sustainability.
