Overview:

The rapid advancement of communication networks and immersive technologies, including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and the metaverse, has introduced complex mathematical challenges that require innovative theoretical, numerical, and experimental approaches. This special issue aims to explore the mathematical foundations underlying these emerging domains, fostering interdisciplinary research that bridges contemporary mathematics with engineering and computational sciences.

From network optimization and information theory to computational geometry and differential equations modeling immersive experiences, a strong mathematical framework is crucial for advancing these technologies. By integrating mathematical methodologies with real-world engineering applications, this special issue aligns with Contemporary Mathematics' mission to provide a platform for high-quality research across a broad spectrum of mathematical sciences.

 

Scope and Topics:

We invite original research and review articles that contribute to the mathematical and computational foundations of communication networks and immersive technologies. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

    • Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) optimization in immersive communication systems Information theory and coding for efficient data transmission

        • Control theory applications in adaptive networking and smart environments
        • Mathematical modeling of latency and synchronization in cloud gaming and the metaverse
        • Applied cryptography for secure immersive interactions
        • Differential equations in real-time haptics and motion prediction

This special issue will serve as a bridge between pure and applied mathematics, fostering collaboration among mathematicians, engineers, and computer scientists. Biography: Muhammad Shahid Anwar is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of AI and Software, Gachon University, South Korea. He has author/co-authored more than 100 publications in top journals and flagship conference and published ten book chapters in reputed publisher. His research interests include 360-degree videos, immersive media (VR/AR/XR), metaverse, and quality of experience (QoE) evaluations of VR application in different domains, such as and education, healthcare, and smart cities.
