Special Issue: The Mathematics of Data Science and Applications
Overview
This special issue aims to provide a platform for advancing mathematical research that underpins and supports methodologies in data science. Emphasis will be placed on both theoretical innovations and real-world applications across disciplines such as biology, economics, climate science, engineering, and artificial intelligence.
Scope of the Special Issue
We welcome submissions in (but not limited to) the following areas:
- Mathematical foundations of machine learning and AI
- Sparse modeling and high-dimensional data
- Generalization theory and learning bounds
- Matrix and tensor decompositions
- Topological data analysis
- Optimization algorithms for data science
- Probabilistic models and stochastic processes
- Mathematical image analysis and computer vision
- Inverse problems and regularization techniques
- PDEs in modeling data evolution
- Algebraic geometry and combinatorics in data
- Uncertainty quantification and error analysis

Submission Opens: July 31, 2025
Submissions should present original and high-quality research that is not currently under review elsewhere. All manuscripts will undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process. Previously published conference papers must be substantially extended and clearly identified during submission.
