Professor Jaime Lloret Appointed Associate Editor for CNC

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Jaime Lloret has been appointed Associate Editor for Computer Networks and Communications (CNC).

 

Jaime Lloret received his M.Sc. in Physics in 1997 from the University of Valencia. He finished a postgraduate Master in Corporative networks and Systems Integration from the Department of Communications of the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 1999. He received his M.Sc. in electronic Engineering in 2003 from University of Valencia and his Ph.D. in telecommunication engineering (Dr. Ing.) from the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 2006.

 

Career to Date:

 

He is a Cisco Certified Network Professional Instructor and he is the Legal Main Contact of several Cisco local academies of the Cisco Networking Academy (CNA). He worked as a network designer and administrator in several enterprises from 1997 to 2001. During all these years he combined enterprise work tasks with educational tasks, teaching in many courses for the Valencian Community Government (more than 2400 hours). He is currently Associate Professor in the Polytechnic University of Valencia. He was the former of the research group communications and networks in 2007, and he became the director of the Integrated Management Coastal Research Institute (IGIC) in January 2017. He is the head of the "Active and collaborative techniques and use of technologic resources in the education (EITACURTE)" Innovation Group.  He is the director of the University Diploma “Redes y Comunicaciones de Ordenadores” from 2008. He has been the director of the University Master "Digital Post Production" from 2012 to 2016. He has been the Vice-chair for the Europe/Africa Region of Cognitive Networks Technical Committee (IEEE Communications Society) for the term 2010-2012 and Vice-chair of the Internet Technical Committee (IEEE Communications Society and Internet society) for the term 2011-2013. He was the Chair of the Internet Technical Committee (IEEE Communications Society and Internet society) during the term 2013-2015. He has led many local, regional, national and European projects. He was the chair of the Working Group of the Standard IEEE 1907.1 from 2013 to 2018. He has been involved in more than 500 Program committees of international conferences and in more than 160 organization and steering committees. Honors and Awards:

 

He obtained the first place given by the Spanish Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation for the Campus of Excellence in the New Technologies and Applied Sciences Area in 2006. He was awarded the prize of the best doctoral Student in the Telecommunications area in 2006 according to the Social Council of the Polytechnic University of Valencia. In 2008, he was nominated as one of the best researchers in the world in the Telematics Engineering by the International Biographical Centre, of Cambridge, England. Since 2016 till today he is the Spanish researcher with highest h-index in the TELECOMMUNICATIONS journal list according to Clarivate Analytics (ISI Thomson) Ranking. Moreover, he is included in the world’s top 2% scientists according to the Stanford University List.

Scientific:

He has authored or co-authored more than 400 papers in international journals (around 300 of them have Journal Citation Report, JCR, Impact Factor) and he authored or co-authored more than 100 scientific papers in national and international conferences (many of them published by IEEE Press and Springer, and they are classified by the CORE list as type A, B or C). He has been the author 2 research books and he has participated in 34 chapters of research books.

 

Educational:

He has authored or co-authored more than 55 papers on teaching methodologies in conferences and he has authored co-authored more than 10 papers in international journals of education. He has authored or co-authored in 12 teaching books and in 18 chapter books about teaching methodologies.

He has been Conference Keynote Speaker, Plenary Speaker and Tutorial Speaker in National and International Conferences 46 times. He has served as a reviewer in more than 1000 international conferences international journals and he had 15 papers awarded in international conferences.

 

Editor and Editorial Boards:

 

He is the editor in chief of the International Journal “Network Protocols and Algorithms” (ISSN: 1943-3581), “Ad Hoc & Sensor Wireless Networks” (Print ISSN: 1551-9899, online ISSN: 1552-0633), (JCR ISI Thomson: 1.034 (2016)), and the “International Journal of Multimedia Communications” (print ISSN: 2378-6507, online ISSN: 2378-6515). Moreover, he is Associate Editor-in-Chief of “Sensors” in the Section sensor Networks, he is advisory board member of the “International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks” (both with ISI Thomson Impact factor), and he is IARIA Journals Board Chair (8 Journals). He has been a guest editor of several international journals and he is (or has been) associate editor or editorial board member of 46 international journals (most of them included in ISI Thomson journal list with JCR). He has been the co-editor of 34 conference proceedings and co-editor in 11 research books.

He is co-author of two published patents.

 

Master Thesis Students and PhD Students:

 

He has been the supervisor of more than 90 Degree Thesis, 20 Official Ms. Degree Thesis, 12 Polytechnic University of Valencia Master Thesis and 9 PhD Thesis. He is currently supervising of 10 PhD. Students.

 

Research and Educational Interests and achievements:

 

His main research has been focused on designing and developing network protocols and algorithms, especially on group-based topologies. These designs have been used in many environments including P2P networks, Ad-hoc and Sensor networks, Grids, Content Distribution Networks, Multimedia and Security.

One of his main contributions has been on indoor Wireless LANs issues (such as coverage designs and devices location), video and voice streaming and on the design of Wireless LANs for Video surveillance.

His academic interests are in collaborative and cooperative learning systems as well as in new educational approaches and strategies using new technologies.
